Sitting on the banks of the River Bure, directly opposite Wroxham, the ‘Capital of the Broads,’ Hoveton is often lumped in as part of Wroxham, but it is a village – and a destination – in its own right. Make your Broads adventure complete with a visit to Hoveton and its unique attractions, which include quirky oddities like Roys of Wroxham, known as The World’s Largest Village Store, and the picturesque majesty of Hoveton Hall, a stunning Victorian manor house. The village is surrounded by some of Norfolk’s most beautiful countryside, and is makes a great place to take a break from the water.

If you’re looking for accommodation in Hoveton, you may want to consider crossing the river and checking out the many options available in Hoveton’s sister town of Wroxham. Hoveton’s pubs are unfortunately now closed down, although the award-winning Thai restaurant Yim Siam is located in the village, and is a great choice for anyone looking for a venue for a romantic meal. Hoveton is also home to Hoveton and Wroxham railway station, from which you can take a day trip to Norwich and explore Norfolk’s capital. The station used to have the misleading name of Wroxham Station, despite being located in Hoveton. Many locals still refer to it in this way, but to avoid confusion make sure if you’re pre-booking tickets that you specify Hoveton and Wroxham.

Hoveton Hall is located on the outskirts of the village, and is a fantastic family entertainment destination. The hall is home to an inspiring outdoor sculpture trail, and has a wonderful cafe and gift shop too. The beautiful grounds are an attraction in themselves, so if you fancy a break from the water, don’t miss out on this beautiful stately home.

Hoveton is an oft-overlooked patch of Norfolk idyll, so if you’re in the Wroxham area and you want to take a step off the beaten track, moor up at Hoveton and take a stroll.
